Shiatsu is a Japanese bodywork therapy with its roots in acupuncture. Like many other forms of Oriental medicine, it takes a holistic rather than a symptomatic approach to health and illness. Instead of needles, thumb pressure is used (through clothing), to help restore health and balance to the system. Where appropriate, stretching and massage are included to loosen areas of tension.
